5 Reasons Why the scale is not moving

At RevolutioniZe nutrition we do not strictly just use the scale to see progress because it is only one incomplete number and by definition is just your relationship with gravity. There is a reason why we do the FIT3D scanner to see other factors during your fat loss journey like how many inches you lost, how much fat mass you lost, etc.  But we have clients who are still wondering why the scale isn’t moving and here are some reasons:

  1. You aren’t doing the program 100%. You can be doing the program for 6 months and not see the results you want to see because you are thinking about the work you need to do instead of DOING THE WORK. In order to see 100% results you need to put 100% effort in. Consistency is key. The solution is track everything and hit your macro-nutrients every day! Most people over estimate the positive effect of the 5 days a week of eating good and exercising and underestimate the negative effect of a couple bad eating days and skipping workouts.
  2. If you are really doing everything right and nothing is moving do not get discouraged! It’s normal to see fluctuations when you start lifting weights and eating a balanced diet!! It usually indicates your building muscle, burning fat and increasing your metabolism. A weight scale won’t indicate if your body composition is changing so even though the scale might not move your body may appear leaner if you are losing fat mass and gaining lean mass. BE PATIENT YOU DON’T CHANGE OVERNIGHT. 
  3. Hormonal fluctuations. Evaluate your life and think about what is going on…Are you getting your period? Are you stressed? Are you going through menopause? During those times you are retaining water and fluctuations could cause a big “weight” gain but it is not real weight it’s WATER! Also stress can affect your weight in similar ways.
  4. Drink enough water (62 fl. Oz. or more!) to help your body with metabolic processes and flush out your system. If you don’t drink enough water it can cause water retention which will cause your weight to fluctuate up.
  5. You’re not being honest. If you are not being honest you are only lying to yourself and affecting your fat loss journey. Be honest with yourself and your nutritionist this way we can do everything we can to help you keep moving along and make progress. If we don’t know we can’t help you!! Communicate & be honest.
