Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of the summer, and what comes with summer? Barbeques, concerts, pool parties, other outdoor events, drinking… you name it. Memorial day weekend marks the start of bathing suit season, which gives you one extra reason to stay on track with those macros and workouts!

Here are our top 10 macro and swimsuit friendly BBQ/Party foods that will help ensure that you are enjoying your time without hindering your progress!


  • grilled lean meats: chicken breast, turkey breast, turkey burgers, turkey or chicken sausage, lean steak such as flank steak, top round or sirloin
  • fish: cod, tilapia, halibut, ahi tuna steaks, etc! salmon could be enjoyed in moderation but the fats will add up quickly ounce for ounce.
  • shellfish: shrimp, lobster, crab, steamed mussels, oysters or clams, raw oysters
  • lean meat/fish kebabs with veggies such as peppers, zucchini and onions
  • salads with dressing on the side, topped with a protein source
  • coleslaw made with greek yogurt instead of mayo
  • fruit platters (bonus points for extra-protein greek yogurt dip!)
  • another delicious fruit idea is frozen grapes
