Why Self-Care is important for your health

Why Self-Care is important for your health:  

To have long term fat loss success all the pieces of the puzzle must be in place. One piece that is often neglected is self-care.  We all have busy lives, are stressed and “don’t have time,” but finding time for yourself is actually very important when it comes to fat loss and keeping it off. Creating more personal time should be at the top of your priority list.

Self-care isn’t selfish you need to take the time for yourself. Creating time for yourself helps maintain a healthy relationship with yourself and is vital for overall wellness. When you do activities that make you feel better physically and mentally it will help increase your confidence and self-esteem. It can keep you healthy and de-stressed if you take the time out of your day to do something you enjoy.  We live in a fast-paced world so sometimes it is important to take a break from technology and recharge and unwind.  Self-care only works when you listen to your body and do what you want.  For example yoga and meditation are known for de-stressing but if you don’t enjoy it don’t do it there are many other ideas you can do for yourself to take care of yourself.

Self-care is important for the people around you too.  If you aren’t at your best you can’t give the best.  If you show your friends and family that you take the time to give yourself self-care they can learn from that and set boundaries with you and maybe even learn to take time for themselves too.

Fat loss and dealing with life is mentally and physically draining. When you learn to take care of yourself and build confidence within yourself, fat loss can become easier.  First you must realize that you deserve some time to yourself. To get started schedule yourself in your calendar I know it sounds silly but if it gets you to focus on you for even 15-20 minutes then it is worth it. Decide how to spend that time focusing on yourself like going for a walk, reading a book, etc. Instead of resorting to old habits like overeating to comfort yourself, find new ways to identify your other needs. Self-care is important to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself so take a step back in your busy life and focus on you for at least 15-20 minutes a day.  Some people do not hear it enough but you are important and deserve to have time for yourself.
